Therapy for Transforming Trauma
Hello and welcome!
My name is Zach, and I am a somatic therapist based in Austin, Texas. I offer in-person services in Austin, as well as virtual therapy for individuals all across Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas.
Often people come to me when they are feeling overwhelmed with current life circumstances, when they realize they are still struggling with unresolved traumas from the past, or when they are feeling adrift in life without being able to pinpoint why. You may look capable on the outside — successful, responsible, thoughtful — but inside you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck in patterns that don’t make sense.
Maybe you:
Grew up with emotional neglect, abuse, or instability
Struggle with anxiety, shame, or hypervigilance
Feel burned out from years of pushing yourself
Identify as highly sensitive and easily overwhelmed
Have tried talk therapy but still feel stuck in your body
If any of these resonate, please know that there is nothing wrong with you. These are simply the patterns our bodies learn in order to survive environments and experiences that were too much: overwhelming, terrifying, isolating, abusive, and so many more. In our therapy work we will learn to understand and befriend the language of your body and nervous system, healing old wounds and patterns so you can live the life you want and deserve. Regardless of your reason for seeking therapy, I am dedicated to creating space for you to be you, helping you peel back the layers to find your deepest, most authentic self.
What I Help With
I specialize in working with adults who have experienced:
Childhood emotional, physical or sexual abuse
Developmental trauma & attachment wounds
Chronic stress & professional burnout
Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) overwhelm
Anxiety rooted in early relational experiences
Persistent shame or self-criticism
Many of my clients are thoughtful, intelligent, high-functioning adults who learned early in life that to be themselves was not safe in their environment or desired by the people closest to them. Instead, they learned to play a role: the strong one, the caretaker, the responsible one, the invisible one, the caretaker, and so many more. What may have been the best survival strategy in the past may start to feel like a prison in the present. And often, the walls are closing in: old coping skills may start to fail, your emotions and body sensations may become unpredictable and scary, and you may start to feel disconnected from yourself and those closest to you.
It can be confusing, terrifying and lonely to not be able to make sense of the storm happening inside of us. It can also be a turning point, a moment to expand into a deeper version of ourselves. Like a crab outgrowing it’s shell, this can be an opportunity to leave behind what is no longer serving you and find out—beneath the trauma, the chronic stress, the isolation— who you really are. If you’re ready to explore healing at a deeper level, please reach out below. I will be happy to connect for free 15-minute consultation to get to know you and see if we’re a good fit.
